Requesting a Letter of Recommendation
If you are requesting a letter of recommendation from me, please provide the following information.
Note that some letters of recommendation are more extensive than others.
Thus I may request different information based on the type of letter you are requesting.
I welcome gentle email reminders if the due date is approaching. I will email you to confirm that I have sent your letter.
UNI Study Abroad:
*unofficial copy of your transcript; highlight the courses that you took from me
*current résumé if you have one (no problem if you don't)
*any international travel or other experiences that you think may be relevant (you can mention them in an email)
*deadline for my letter
Please make your request at least one week in advance of the due date.
Scholarship:
*unofficial copy of your transcript; highlight the courses that you took from me
*current résumé if you have one (no problem if you don't)
*brief description of the scholarship; web site link if available
What are the characteristics that qualify students for the scholarship?
*any experiences that you think may be relevant (you can mention them in an email)
*addressed, stamped envelope or URL for electronic submissions
*deadline for my letter

Law School:

Graduate School:

*a brief description of the program; many master's programs have different names, so make sure I know the exact degree
Tell me what interests you about the program.
Does the program emphasize applied work? Is it a general, theory-based program?
The more I can tailor your letter to the specific program, the stronger it will be.
But I need your help to provide me the background about the program.
Please provide a web site link for each program if available.
