Robinson and Lamar win Alliant Energy Erroll B. Davis, Jr. Achievement Award

Kelvin Robinson (Management) and Sharnae Lamar (Economics) received Alliant Energy Erroll B. Davis, Jr. Achievement Awards in 2014. This award recognizes academic achievement in engineering or business administration, leadership in campus and community organizations, and potential for future career success.

Robinson is a member of the Student Admissions Ambassadors (SAA), Culture and Intensive English Program (CIEP), Black Student Union, Black Male Leadership Union, Supply Chain Management Association, Ethnic Student Promoters and EXCEL. He has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and works as a resident assistant at Campbell Hall.

Lamar is a member of the UNI women‘s basketball team, which was named to the Women‘s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2013 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The team finished the 2012-2013 academic year with the seventh best GPA among NCAA Division I teams. Lamar holds herself to a high standard and maintains a 3.5 GPA She is a first generation student and the oldest of five, which inspires her to set a high bar and be a great role model to her younger siblings. She also participates in SAAC (student advisory committee), works youth basketball camps and regularly volunteers at the salvation army.

The Erroll B. Davis, Jr. Achievement Award was created in honor of Erroll B. Davis, Jr. and his nearly 30 years of service to the utility industry. The scholarship seeks to recognize the importance of scholarship and leadership by under-represented minority students attending one of the state schools in Iowa.
