UNIBusiness takes pride in partnering with professionals to prepare students for the real world. On March 26, the EXCEL student organization attended a workshop, presented by Dardis Communications, in preparation for their annual Panther Connection networking event with Principal Financial Group and area alums in Des Moines.

Dardis Communications is the leading professional training company in the Midwest. Since 2002, the company has helped thousands of professionals become stronger leaders and communicators. Dardis helps individuals in any profession polish their professional image by providing training on executive coaching, consultative selling, business writing, presentation delivery and professional development.

Tyson Greiner (Public Relations ‘98) led the workshop and presented to over 30 EXCEL members. He believes workshops like this are crucial to life-long professional success. "Students participating in this workshop learned how to be verbally and physically successful in the workplace. They also learned how to dress for success. Workshops like those offered by Dardis Communications will help differentiate young professionals now, when they began their careers and in the future."

Ashley Drain (Accounting) was impressed with the content that was provided by Greiner, "I gained and brushed up on a lot of intangible skills that will enhance my professional experience when I attend the Panther Connection."

Kadesha Zimmerman (Accounting and MIS) agreed, "I really enjoyed the workshop. I learned many simple, yet essential, tips that I found useful while I was networking at the Panther Connection. One of my favorite tips was making sure that you point out something on a business card when you receive one to spark conversation. This makes the other person feel like your business relationship is valued and that their business card will not go to waste. I will definitely use the knowledge I learned from this Dardis workshop in my future professional endeavors."

UNIBusiness thanks United Fire Group Insurance for funding this workshop through a grant specifically targeted to teaching professional development to UNIBusiness students.
