Jean is known for her commitment to her community. She presently volunteers her time and expertise to the following: the Unity Point Health/Allen Health System Board of Directors, the Inclusion Connection Board, the Iowa Women's Foundation, the Junior Achievement Foundation Board, the Wellspring Guild Board, the UNI Special Education Department Advisory Board, and the UNI College of Business Administration Advisory Board.

Jean has recently recalibrated from her role as President of Veridian Credit Union. She currently serves as Chief Inclusion Officer for Inclusion Connection, a nonprofit that advocates for the inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities. She began her career as a Senior Auditor at Den Hartog & Hogan Co. Jean joined Veridian Credit Union (formally John Deere Community Credit Union) in April 1982 as Controller and was promoted to Vice President of Finance in June 1984, a position she held until being named President/CEO in 1990.
Jean was recently awarded the 2014 Cedar Valley Professional Woman of the Year Persimmon award. Other recognitions include Greater Cedar Valley Alliance Fulfilling the Vision of One award in 2012, the UNI Alumni Service Award in 2011, induction into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame in 2010, the 2006 Woman of the Year Award from the Cedar Falls Business and Professional Women, induction into the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Business and Industry Hall of Fame in 2005, the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry in 2005, the Matt Parrott Integrity Award in 1999 and the Athena Award- Waterloo Business Woman of the Year in 1992.
Jean, a Cedar Falls, Iowa native, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with an Accounting Degree and earned her Certified Public Accountant designation. Jean is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Iowa Society of CPAs.
