Michael (Joe) Bolick

Joe Bolick started with the Iowa Waste Reduction Center as a student intern in 2003 and was hired full-time in 2004 to work on painter training programs. In 2011, he transitioned into a marketing and communications role for both the IWRC and all of Business & Community Services before taking over as director of the IWRC in December 2019.
Bolick hires student interns and provides real-world experiences while building their skills and networks to give them the best opportunity to start successful careers upon graduation.
Hobbies & Interests
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, golfing, hiking, traveling and anything that just puts a smile on my face.

Joe is a certified STAR4D and NACE International instructor and a member of the Society for Protective Coatings. He is listed as an inventor on US Patents 7,839,416 and 7,817,162 for his work in developing virtual reality painting and abrasive blasting simulators. He has also authored in articles published in Finishing Today and Materials Performance magazines.
