April 1, BCS Brief
An internal newsletter for Business & Community Services
Live Purple Give Gold (UNI’s Day of Giving) is right around the corner! On Thursday, April 16, the University’s goal is for 1,876 Panthers to make a donation of any size in honor of UNI’s founding year (1876).
Donations can be made to the annual fund or directly to any foundation account — that means you can give to a BCS program or another area on campus that’s made an impact in your life. You’ll see that the JPEC will be active on social media that day, and we encourage you to check out their accounts for fun challenges and videos of staff and students (here’s a preview!). If you’re interested in participating, here’s a link to make your donation early. Again, it doesn’t matter how much you give.
All faculty and staff are invited to a social on the afternoon before the big event — Wednesday, April 15, from 4-6 p.m. in the Gallagher Bluedorn Pauline R. Barrett Charitable Foundation Marquee Lounge. Click here to RSVP for this free event.

If that’s not your style but you’re interested in giving your time to another project, check out the full list of volunteer opportunities here.
Keep your eyes out for the employee engagement survey
As part of Wilson College’s goal to foster a strong and supportive climate for all, we will again use the Gallup Q12 survey to measure employee engagement. The survey will be open from April 10 through April 24. Watch for more details from your department head. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Responses are 100% confidential. Only aggregate results will be shared with your department head/team leader and me. Given the timing of the survey, academic departments will review results in the fall. Departments composed primarily of 12-month employees will review their results over the summer. Barring disruptive forces, this work will support and advance individual careers, student success and our mission-driven activities.

Day at the Capitol Recap
Last Wednesday, the UNI community came together at Iowa’s Capitol to say “thanks” to the state leaders who support the work we do. It's a powerful day, especially because of the students who share their University of Northern Iowa experiences. Thank you to BCS students Kadin Walter (JPEC), Jada Dachtler (IWRC), and Norah Lipovac (IDM) for putting yourselves out there and making a difference!
Dean’s Search Updates
Thank you to everyone who participated in the search process for the next Wilson College Dean. We expect the Provost to announce the next steps in the coming weeks.
