Leslie K. Wilson is the dean of UNI Business. UNI Business is recognized by Princeton Review as one of the best business schools in the world and maintains accreditation from AACSB International, a status achieved by only the top 5% of business schools in the world. As the dean, she works with the college's stakeholders to establish the strategic direction and priorities of the college, manage the budget, and seek new revenues.

Wilson is particularly interested in:

  • Increasing the number of women majoring in business.
  • Expanding internationalization efforts.
  • Maintaining the unique strengths of the college.
  • Increasing the number of students who gain professional credentials (such as the CPA, CMA, CFP, and CFA among others) prior to or shortly after graduation.
  • Increasing recognition for the significant impact that the college has on economic development in the state through the college’s outreach arm, Business & Community Services.

Prior to her current appointment, Wilson served as the associate dean and MBA program director. She is always interested in making sure the college is helping students meet the challenges of gaining a great education in preparation for the challenges they will see in their careers.

Hobbies & Interests
In addition to spending time with her husband and adult children, Wilson loves to scrapbook, teach her dog new tricks, learn new things, travel, waterski and tackle significant home improvement projects. It is amazing what you can learn tearing down and rebuilding a bathroom!

Education

Ph.D. (Business Administration: MIS first emphasis, Operations second emphasis) University of Iowa; M.B.A., University of Northern Iowa; B.S. (Industrial Engineering, with Honors) Iowa State University.

Research Interests

Improved productivity in analysis, design, and development. Application of expert systems in manufacturing. Supply chain productivity enhancements. Teaching pedagogy in information systems. Management issues in virtual worlds.

Professional Accomplishments

Dean Leslie K. Wilson was previously the associate dean. In that role she provided direction and leadership with regard to maintaining the College's AACSB accreditation, transitioning the College through three sets of standards. In addition, she was the MBA Program Director for the campus program, expanding across the state, in Hong Kong, and mainland China helping the program earn a Top 100 Part Time MBA by U.S. News & World Reports. Between 2003 and 2006, she received over $300,000 in Business and International Education (BIE) grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education and served as the grant manager for those two grants.

Wilson is a tenured professor in the Department of Management. Her interests in supply chain, information systems development processes as well as teaching pedagogy has resulted in nineteen journal article publications in such journals as International Journal of Production Research, Supply Chain Management International, Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Service Industry Management, Journal of Information Systems Education, and International Journal of Purchasing and Materials Management. In addition, she has over 25 presentations or proceedings. Before coming to UNI, she worked seven years as an independent contractor, developing systems for small businesses.
