Professional Accomplishments

Marty Hansen, a New Jersey native, came to UNI in 2008 after a long career in American business operations. He currently serves the Department of Marketing by instructing courses that encompass the Sales Management major, including Personal Selling, Sales Management and Services Marketing. He occasionally teaches the Business Policy & Strategy capstone course within the Department of Management as well. Hansen is involved in the MBA program, having taught MBA courses on campus, in Pella, Iowa, and in Hong Kong.  He serves as the Marketing Internship Advisor and has previously served in a variety of roles for the Professional Readiness Program. Hansen has taught other courses for the university, including Entrepreneurship, Organizational Management, Retail Management and Principles of Marketing.

Prior to his tenure at UNI, Hansen worked on the East Coast for Fortune 500 companies GE and General Motors. He ran insurance and ancillary product divisions for both companies’ financial services enterprises (GE Capital, GMAC). He began his career in New Jersey, working for regional banks in the Philadelphia/southern New Jersey markets. While there, he developed the first credit card attached to a home equity line of credit.  Hansen moved to Iowa in 2003 and opened a wine cafe in Cedar Falls. The cafe, Indulgence, operated on Main Street until 2011. He also served as a distributor sales representative and as the inside sales manager for Martin Brothers Distributing, a Cedar Falls-based food services distributor.

In addition to his instructing duties at UNI, Hansen maintains his professional qualifications through his consulting practice. His client list includes Cedar Falls-based business One3 Design.
