Assessment and Projects Specialist and Instructor

Elena Dodge has a doctorate degree from Iowa State University and an MBA from UNI. She oversees assessment activities for curriculum management in undergraduate and MBA programs, performs data analysis, and reports results on student learning assessment for internal and external users. She serves on UNI Business Core Curriculum Council and works closely with business faculty associated with student learning objectives. Dodge also promotes and coordinates the UNI Business Undergraduate Research Program, as well as advises program participants.

As an instructor Dodge teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in management, diversity and intercultural communication, with research interests in Internationalization, multiculturalism and cultural diversity in organizations.

Professional Accomplishments

Over her years at UNI Business, Elena has played an important role in developing and coordinating assessment of student learning for undergraduate and graduate programs. While maintaining a full-time professional position at UNI, she conducted research and successfully defended a dissertation titled “Academic Engagement of International Students: A Culturally Sensitive Measurement Model”. She stays active in collaborative research related to academic learning goals and assessment, and has presented in the UNI Brown Bag Lecture Series. Elena has recently developed and taught a graduate-level course on diversity and intercultural communication in the workplace. In addition, Elena was selected for the first cohort of UNI Provost’s (former President’s) Leadership Academy.


Prior to coming to UNI, Elena was a faculty member at Moscow State Linguistics University (Moscow, Russia) where she was on the leading team for development of new academic programs in business and course curricula in ESL business communication, translation and interpreting.
