University of Northern Iowa’s Center for Professional Sales Excellence offers programs to support, deliver, and enhance premier sales education across the upper Midwest.  Based in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship in the College of Business, the Center brings faculty and industry partners together to offer cutting-edge, research-based curriculum, proven best practices in training and development, and contemporary principles of sales professionalism.  

The Center is conveniently located in the Business and Community Services building, a short distance from the Curris Business Building, and easily accessible to visitors from the business community.  The state-of-the-art facility offers classroom and workshop space for critical role-play and competitive activities with video and audio recording capabilities.

Resources For Students  

Every Marketing & Entrepreneurship student focusing on Sales Management will spend time at the Center for Professional Sales Excellence participating in coursework, professional development activities, and recruiting events. Across all majors, nearly sixty percent of UNI graduates can expect to begin their careers in a sales position. The Center offers workshops, short courses, and skill-building opportunities to help any student excel in that critical first job.

In cooperation with Advance Iowa, a business support program of UNI’s Center for Business Growth and Innovation, the Sale Center offers sales and sales management expertise to businesses and business communities across Iowa’s 99 counties.  Tapping university faculty expertise as well as Advance Iowa’s unique expertise in pairing owners with trusted business advisors, the Centers provide resources to enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of a company's sales and sales management efforts.

Meet the Director 

Marty Hansen, director of the University of Northern Iowa’s (UNI) Center for Professional Sales Excellence, has been a faculty member in the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship since 2007.  He teaches courses that encompass the Sales Management major, including Personal Selling, Sales Management, Selling with Social Media and Entrepreneurship Strategy.  He also teaches Marketing Management in the MBA program at Cedar Falls, Hong Kong and Shanghai locations.
