Advertising & Digital Media Major

Dynamic, exciting, innovative, and that’s just day one of class

Advertising and digital marketing careers are equal parts science and art, ingenuity, and creativity, human nature, and the nature of business. Here, you’ll use data, reports, web analytics, search, and more tools to meet consumers where they spend their time. You’ll learn how to best engage them, how to tell them a brand story and win them over. More and more consumers are living in a handheld world where scrolling is fast. So, how do you help a company get noticed? What can you do across social media platforms? Are they watching streaming or actually reading a magazine? As an advertising and digital marketing expert, you’ll be in the driver’s seat to plan and make decisions to connect with consumers every single day.

This major puts you in real-world marketing situations, combining a solid business foundation with innovative, creative media strategy. With business intelligence and consumer insights, you’ll launch companies, brands, and products, determine ideal messaging, and manage campaigns in a digital-first universe.

Beyond the Classroom

American Advertising Federation

Our mission is to build a vibrant and engaged community of students passionate about advertising. Each year, students work on real client projects as part of AAF + UNI. You’ll work with a major corporate client to create an integrated marketing campaign and compete in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). Students have worked on clients including Pizza Hut, Snapple, and Ocean Spray. In September, students from 200 chapters nationwide receive a case study outlining the client company’s campaign objectives, history of the product and their current advertising situation. Our team researches the product and its competition, identifies potential problem areas, and collaborates to design a completely integrated marketing campaign for the client. AAF + UNI earned 3rd place at the NSAC in 2015.
