From the Dean's Desk

As we close out the semester, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the successes you’ve achieved, big and small. Whether it was inspiring students in the classroom, mentoring them outside of it, helping organizations be more effective or making progress on projects that strengthen our college and our state, your work truly matters.

The holiday season is a time to celebrate those accomplishments and recharge for the year ahead. I’ll be doing my part by baking cookies, and lots of them, along with a little sourdough bread! While I’m confident I’ll never make it to the Holiday Baking Championship (trust me, no one’s giving me a trophy), I hope you find your own ways to enjoy time with family and friends and savor the season.

Thank you for all you do to make the Wilson College of Business a place of excellence and opportunity. Wishing you joy, rest and a fresh start in the new year!

I look forward to seeing you at the Holiday Soup Luncheon on Monday as we kick off this holiday season!

Leslie K. Wilson
Dean

research roundup

Marketing & Entrepreneurship

Faculty and students in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department continue to explore and break new ground in the constantly evolving field of marketing through research and community impact.

Among these contributions, Matthew Bunker explored the unique stresses that people felt during the pandemic by examining the memes we shared during that period and the coping mechanisms we illustrated through our use of memes. Karthik Iyer was part of a team that extended contingency theory to explore the components that make up an agile supply chain operation, based on examining the factors of supply uncertainty and product complexity. Gunwoo Yoon led a team that performed a meta-analysis regarding the gamification of advertising.

Intellectual Contributions 4-1-24 through 3-31-25
Published Marketing & Entrepreneurship Faculty Contributions

  • Bunker, M. (2025). Primary and secondary coping behaviors portrayed by memes in response to the stresses induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative Marketing Research.

These publications provide an ongoing snapshot of the wide breadth of scope that exists within the profession of marketing, and our department’s efforts in capturing this breadth through research reflect a formidable and forward-thinking department. Thanks to all.

Marketing and Entrepreneurship Head and Associate Professor
